ISAAC 2010 – Barcelona

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

What a week…I loved every minute of the ISAAC conference in Barcelona, catching up with so many ‘old’ friends and making new ones from all over the world.  I spent time in the exhibition, went to sessions and took part too…

from my own presentation

The Truth the Whole Truth and Nothing but the Truth – Labelled?

Expanded from the Communication Matters conference to include more details of types of AAC I use

To the 1 Voice Teenagers Presentation when we talked about our experiences over the last 5 years,

then to Mel Smiths 2 dreams sessions when I talked about my dream to play boccia for GB in 2016……

Before finally the dance workshop with Mel, Morgan and Emma – we all spoke about what music means to us and how dance plays a part in all of our lives.  It was just amazing when people got out of their chairs and the audience stood on their chairs and joined us in dancing to PINK.

Thank you to everyone!

isaac2006a

I found this old video from 2006, but actually I still feel the same about using a communication aid.

Remembering AAC Awareness Week 2008

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Winning the multimedia award with Emma and Morgan this week in the 2009 AAC Awareness story contest reminded me about my 2008 entry to the ISAAC AAC Awareness Week. I wrote a story which my lovely friend Mel Smith illustrated. I didn’t win then but the UK entries were judged by Communication Matters and I was lucky enough to get an award in the teenage category. I then got to read my entry at 10 Downing Street!
